Ratti to Carat

Gemstones in India are many times prescribed in Ratti (weight of gemstone), where as the standard weight today used globally for Gemstones is Carat. The weightscale used in gemstones shows weight in carats.

In India though in different states the Ratti to Carat weight may defer for example in some states one Ratti to Carat would be around 0.70 carat , where as in some states it would be around 0.80 carat ,but the most standard weight considered from Ratti to Carat is as follows

1 Ratti = 0.91 carat

1 carat= 1.0989 ratti

1 carat= 200 milligrams.

1 Gram= 5 carats

So for example a person is suggested a 5 Ratti gemstone , so in Carats it would be approximately 4.55 Carats .

Also “Karat” word is used to check purity of gold & “Carat” as weight of a Gemstone.
